It seems that the age of classic rock has ended. Now a new genre has taken the world by storm, a little genre called metal. It hasn't appeared until 1990 but now it is the biggest hit amongst teenagers. Bands such as Metallica and Iron Maiden spontaneously attracted many newcomers into the world of metal.
From the fast paced beat to the sick solos, metal is considered one of music's most well-known music. The messages in metal vary from real life controversies to even subliminal messages. Metal also has subgenres such as black metal and thrash metal.
Even though not everyone accepts this genre of music, it still has a long lasting impact on the music industry.
I find this post to be ironic since both of the bands that you listed are now considered to be bands associated with "classic rock." Metallica entered the music scene in the 80's - almost thirty years ago - and Iron Maiden formed in the 70's. It is certainly not a new genre of music nor is it a huge hit amongst teenagers.

Metal is pretty awesome. My favorite genre of music is progressive metal. OF course I still love bands that fit the basic definitions of metal (megadeth, metallica, slayer, etc). Metal has a done of different genres and over the years they have turned into very defining categories. If you look around I'm sure you can find people yelling "NO IT'S BLACK METAL NOT DEATH METAL" I know have.
ReplyDeleteMetal is amazing but it is definitely not very popular among teenagers. Most teenagers listen to either preppy rock or rap. The ones that do listen to heavy rock, most likely listen to screamo and not metal. It is a shame, but there's nothing we can do. It'd definitely be better to live in a time where classic rock was the biggest hit.
